Pre-event

Join us this weekend at four different locations around the island as we spread the word of our TreasureEight Project AWWA Charity Marathon!

Look for us at these places:

1) Outside Takashimaya
2) Outside Cineleisure
3) Outside Plaza Singapura
4) Outside Raffles City Shopping Center

from 12noon to 3pm on Friday 26th Jan and Saturday 27th Jan.

We'll be in wheelchairs for the afternoon, in an effort to feel just a tiny bit of what the children from AWWA Special School experience. By putting ourselves in their situation, we hope to bring across the message that it's definitely not easy to be disabled. We need your help to help them.

Come look for us and get one of our postcards to learn more about our event!

TreasureEight

It’s not difficult to donate money to charity. This year, do something different. Do something more.

For Valentine’s Day 2007, we’re calling out to all tertiary students from polytechnics, institutes, junior colleges and universities. Form a group with not more than 5 other willing friends and join the TreasureEight Charity Marathon, where teams will spend three days and two nights taking part in activities to raise funds for the children of the Asian Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA) Special School.

Most of AWWA’s children suffer from multiple disabilities. At AWWA, these children learn life and survival skills to help them cope with the basic needs of everyday life. This year, subsidies for special schools have been reduced. We need your help to purchase necessary equipment and to defray the costs of the dedicated treatment these children need so much.

From February 9 to 11, up to 16 teams of 6 people each will be competing to raise the highest amount of money for AWWA through an exciting range of activities like designing and selling items to the public, pitching to corporate sponsors, and flea market sales – Amazing Race style. Every single cent that is raised will go straight to AWWA for the development of their educational programs for the children who need it.

For more details on how to join or to pledge a donation, visit http://www.treasure8.awwa.wordpress.com or email treasure8.awwa@gmail.com.
